  to either turn a blind eye to Turkey’s pronounced\nundemocratic slide and
 /or burn bridges with these two entities unless he gets\nwhat he wants?Sin
 an\nCiddi\nis\nan expert on Turkish domestic politics and foreign policy. 
 He earned&nbsp\; his\nPh.D. in Political Science\nfrom\nthe\nSchool of Ori
 ental and African Studies\, University of London in 2007.\nHe\nwas an\nins
 tructor\nat Sabanci\nUniversity\, where he also completed his Post-Doctora
 l Fellowship. Between\n2008-2011\,\nhe established the Turkish Studies pro
 gram at the University of Florida’s\nCenter for European Studies. In addit
 ion\nto his current teaching and research responsibilities at Georgetown\,
  Ciddi\nserves as the Executive Director of the Institute of Turkish Studi
 es.&nbsp\;Ciddi’s book\ntitled Kemalism\nin Turkish Politics: Secularism\,
