DESCRIPTION:The Maxwell African Scholars Union Graduate Student Summer Rese
 arch Grants&nbsp\;&nbsp\;This year the Maxwell African Scholars Union (MAS
 U) will grant awards to graduate students of up to $2\,500 to support fiel
 d research in sub-Saharan Africa during the summer of 2015. The purpose of
  the award is to provide students the opportunity to develop field experie
 nce\, whether to gather preliminary data\, make contacts\, map topics\, or
  increase the competitiveness of future proposals for funding.&nbsp\; Any 
 graduate student enrolled in a MA or PhD program at Syracuse University ma
 y apply. &nbsp\;The awards are competitive and proposals are judged on the
  basis of (i) the quality of the proposed project or research\, (ii) the o
 rganization and thoughtfulness of the proposal\, and (iii) the appropriate
 ness and feasibility of the research or project plan in relation to the st
 udent's background and qualifications.&nbsp\; &nbsp\;You may apply for mor
 e than one summer grant from the Moynihan Institute\, but you will not rec
 eive more than one in a given year from the Institute.&nbsp\; Awards are r
 anked separately\, so if your proposal is accepted by more than one commit
