 resident of the Association for Middle East\nWomen's Studies (AMEWS) and f
 ounder and director of the Arab Families Working\nGroup. She founded and d
 irects the University of California Davis Arab Region\nConsortium\, includ
 ing the American University of Beirut\, the American\nUniversity in Cairo\
 , the Lebanese American University\, Birzeit University\,\nAmerican Univer
 sity of Sharjah\, and UC Davis. She was president of the Middle\nEast Stud
 ies Association of North America in 2010-2011. She is co-founder and\nfoun
 ding president of the Arab American Studies Association and co-founder of\
 nthe Association for Middle East Anthropology&nbsp\;and the&nbsp\;Journal 
 of\nMiddle East Women’s Studies.&nbsp\;She is General Editor of\nthe&nbsp\
 ;Encyclopedia of Women and Islamic Cultures. She has edited or\nco-edited 
 10 books\, and published over 100 articles in journals and books\, most\nr
 ecently&nbsp\;Arab Family Studies: Critical Reviews&nbsp\;(2018) and&nbsp\
 ;Arab\nAmerican Women: Representation and Refusal&nbsp\;(2021). She is the
  founder and\nfounding&nbsp\;director of the Middle East/South Asia Studie
 s Program at UC\nDavis and was awarded the UC Davis Prize – the largest un
 dergraduate teaching\nand research prize in the United States. She the Mid
