DESCRIPTION:This discussion is part of a global teach-in/teach-out at more
 than 26 universities worldwide\, organized by the&nbsp\;Global Migration S
cholars Network. November 11 marks the end of World War I. In the United S
tates\, we commemorate the end of the war by celebrating Veterans Day\; in
Europe\, it is often known as Armistice/Remembrance Day. The Migration Sc
holars Network selected this day for its first event as not only a reminde
r “that wars produce refugees but also that many of the survivors of that
war hoped their sacrifices would produce a more peaceful and just world” (
Call for Teach-Ins/Outs).&nbsp\;The goal of the event is two-fold: (1) to
offer space for respectful discussion for Syracuse University and Central
New York community members and (2) to identify and build a network of scho
lars committed to advancing critical migration studies scholarship and col
lective action across the Syracuse University campus and beyond.&nbsp\;For
more information\, please reach out to the organizers Lauren Woodard (law
oodar@syr.edu)\, Gladys McCormick (gmccormi@syr.edu) and Susan Thomas (sth
oma12@syr.edu). This event is co-sponsored by the&nbsp\;Engaged Humanities
  Network.
