 Fellow at the London School of Economics\, and Halford Mackinder Professor
  of Geography at Oxford. His reflections on the importance of space and pl
 ace (and more recently "nature") have attracted considerable attention acr
 oss the humanities and social science. He is widely published and has earn
 ed many awards and honorary degrees.&nbsp\;The Professor Donald W. Meinig 
 Lecture honors the pivotal geographical work of Maxwell Professor Emeritus
  Donald W. Meinig\, a member of the Syracuse University Department of Geog
 raphy from 1959 until his retirement in 2005.
