 he Middle Eastern\nStudies Program (MESP) will grant up to 3 awards (in th
 e range of $1\,000 each)\nto Maxwell PhD and MA candidates from any discip
 line to support field research\nin the Middle East during the summer of 20
 15.\;\nAny student enrolled in a PhD or MA program at Syracuse University 
 may\napply. \n\n\n\nThe awards can be used to\nundergo advanced language t
 raining\, gather data and increase competitiveness of\nfuture proposals fo
 r funding. The awards are competitive\, and proposals will be\nevaluated o
 n the basis of (i) originality and significance of the proposed research/s
 tudy\,\n(ii) organization and clarity of the proposal\, (iii) appropriaten
 ess and\nfeasibility of the research/study plan in relation to the student
 s background\nand qualifications\, and (iv) cost effectiveness.\n\n\n\nYou
  may apply for more than one summer grant from the\nMoynihan Institute\, b
 ut you will not receive more than one in a given\nyear. Other types of sup
 port that could\nexclude you from receiving a summer research grant includ
 e summer FLAS funding\,\nsummer de Sardon-Glass support\, and other types 
 of summer support from the\nMoynihan Institute. Awards are ranked\nseparat
 ely\, so if your proposal is accepted by more than one committee\, you\nwi
