 Kingdom will leave the European\nUnion. This will have a profound impact o
 n the way the country interacts with\nboth Europe and the United States. I
 n these changing times\, New York Consul\nGeneral Antony Phillipson will p
 rovide unique insight into how Brexit is\ncurrently positioned\, and how t
 rade and political relations will evolve between\nthese three regions. Ant
 ony Phillipson was announced as Her Majesty’s Trade Commissioner (HMTC) fo
 r North America in February 2018. He became Her Majesty’s Consul General i
 n New York in November 2017.&nbsp\;Phillipson joined the Civil Service in 
 1993 and began his career in the Department of Trade and Industry where hi
 s posts included Private Secretary and then Principal Private Secretary to
  the Secretary of State (1996-2000). After four years in the Embassy in Wa
 shington as First Secretary\, Trade Policy and then Counsellor\, Global Is
 sues (2000-2004)\, he returned to London as the Prime Minister’s Private S
 ecretary for Foreign Affairs (2004-2007). He then moved to the Foreign and
  Commonwealth Office as Head of the Iran Coordination Group (2007-2010). I
 n April 2011 he was appointed High Commissioner to Singapore\, a post he h
 eld until April 2015 when he returned to London as Director (EU External) 
 in the European and Global Issues Secretariat (EGIS) in the Cabinet Office
 . After the EU referendum in June 2016\, EGIS became the Department for Ex
 iting the European Union (DExEU).&nbsp\;Phillipson served as Director\, Tr
 ade and Partnerships in DExEU until November 2017 when he assumed his curr
 ent assignment as Consul General in New York.&nbsp\;In February 2018\, he 
 was also appointed Her Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for North America.&nbs
 p\;He has a degree in modern history from the University of Oxford. Sponso
