DESCRIPTION:Moynihan Institute of Global Affairs&nbsp\;Program on Latin Ame
rica and the Caribbean present Entre Silencios&nbsp\;A Collective Creation
Play Directed by Ana\nFlorencia&nbsp\;López Ulloa&nbsp\;\n\n"Entre silenc
ios" is a creative&nbsp\;collaboration\nproject focused on upstate immigra
nt experiences\, particularly focusing on the\nmany silences that occur wh
en people are asked to tell their stories\, often in\nthe context of legal
appeals. The central thread of the project was developed\nby director/son
gwriter Ana Florencia López Ulloa in a choreopoem\nstructure.&nbsp\; Each
participant in the project has contributed to developing\nthe roles they p
lay in the performance\, which includes spoken dialogue\, dance\,\nand ori
ginal music. At times comedic and satirical\, other times heavy and\nangui
shed\, the\nstories we are telling are subtle because we are not saying mo
st of the trauma\nthey come from- those parts of the stories are implied i
n the silence from the\nactors on stage.&nbsp\;There\nare parts of the per
formance that will sometimes include long -at times\,\nuncomfortably long-
silences. Reading between the lines of those silences is\nimplied. The pl
ay between languages is also not accidental\, hoping to shed\nlight at the
fact that what is often not said\, when it gets to be said\, may be\nsaid
in a language that others do not understand.&nbsp\;Performers:\nAna Flore
ncia&nbsp\;López Ulloa (Cornell ’11\; UCM ‘07)\, Oscar Martinez (Cornell ’
23)\,\nJose Rangel (Cornell ’21)\, Lety Perez (Ithaca Community Member) an
d Tania\nPenafort (LawNY paralegal and Teatrotaller veteran). Creative dir
ector and\nproducer: Debra Castillo (Professor of Comparative Literature\,
