  and cultural life. Publics – and\n        professionals trained in public
  communications and international affairs\n        – will play a central r
 ole in adopting the innovations and adapting to\n        the consequences.
  As former Newhouse Dean Lorraine Branham discussed in her recent intervie
 w: “It’s\n        impossible to ignore the ‘infoquake’ that is moving and 
 shaking global\n        public communications. Across the world\, people a
 re changing the ways\n        they give and receive information. Instant m
 obile technology is driving\n        communicators to rethink everything w
 e’ve learned and re-imagine the\n        possibilities.” Maxwell Dean Davi
 d Van Slyke has noted\, “In the past\, we\n        had reflective contempl
 ation about how we should respond to issues. It\n        informed activism
  and dissent. Now we live in an age of instantaneous\n        response. Th
