 p\;&nbsp\; Rieko Kage is Associate Professor of Political Science at the U
 niversity of Tokyo. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Kyoto University
  and her Ph.D. from Harvard University. In 2010-2011\, she is Toyota Visit
 ihg Professor at the Center for Japanese Studies\, University of Michigan.
  Before coming to the University of Tokyo\, she taught at Kobe University\
 , Graduate School of Law. Her book\, Civic Engagement in Postwar Japan: Th
 e Revival of a Defeated Society\, is forthcoming from Cambridge University
