DESCRIPTION:The Maxwell African\nScholars Union Graduate Student Summer Res
 earch Grants\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nThis year the Maxwell African\nScholars Union (
 MASU) will grant awards to graduate students of up to $2\,500 to\nsupport 
 field research in sub-Saharan Africa during the summer of 2015. The\npurpo
 se of the award is to provide students the opportunity to develop field\ne
 xperience\, whether to gather preliminary data\, make contacts\, map topic
 s\, or increase\nthe competitiveness of future proposals for funding.&nbsp
 \; Any graduate student enrolled in a MA or PhD\nprogram at Syracuse Unive
 rsity may apply.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nThe awards are competitive\nand proposals a
 re judged on the basis of (i) the quality of the proposed project\nor rese
 arch\, (ii) the organization and thoughtfulness of the proposal\, and (iii
 )\nthe appropriateness and feasibility of the research or project plan in 
 relation\nto the student's background and qualifications.&nbsp\;\n\n\n&nbs
 p\;\n\nYou may apply for more than one summer grant from the\nMoynihan Ins
 titute\, but you will not receive more than one in a given year from\nthe 
 Institute.&nbsp\; Awards are ranked\nseparately\, so if your proposal is a
 ccepted by more than one committee\, you\nwill be awarded the better oppor
