DESCRIPTION:"Organizational Change in Transnational NGOs: Collaboration\, C
onflict and Unpleasant Conundrums." Guest Speaker- Tosca Bruno-van Vijfeij
ken\, Co-Director of the Transnational NGO Initiative at the Moynihan Inst
itute in the Maxwell School. The TNGO Initiative focuses on the governance
\, leadership and effectiveness of transnationally operating NGOs. Along w
ith colleague Steve Lux\, Tosca has worked with a number of major NGOs – S
ave the Children\, Oxfam\, CARE and Amnesty International\, among others -
 - to help them learn from major organizational change processes these NGOs
have led and managed in recent years. The changes are often in part respo
nses to major developments in the external environment of NGOs which pose
fundamental threats to their future relevance\, credibility and effectiven
ess. When NGOs initiate major organizational change processes in their fre
quently complex organizations this inevitably triggers collaboration as we
ll as conflicts. In this discussion\, Tosca will share her reflections on
leading and managing change\, conflict and collaboration.
