DESCRIPTION:Christians in Israel and the Middle East Daphne Tsimhoni is the
  Schusterman Visiting Israeli Professor for 2009-2010 at Northeastern Univ
 ersity\, Boston. She is Professor of Modern Middle East History at the Dep
 artment of Humanities and Arts\, the Technion—Israel Institute of Technolo
 gy and is a research fellow at the Harry S. Truman Institute for the Advan
 cement of Peace at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Tsimhoni received h
 er B.A. and M.A. from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem\, and earned her 
 Ph.D. at the School of Oriental and African Studies\, University of London
 . Her areas of research include ethnicity in the contemporary Middle East 
 with special reference to Christians and Jews and nationalism\, religion a
 nd ethnic relations in the State of Israel and among the Palestinian Arabs
 . Her publications include numerous articles on these topics. Her book Chr
 istian Communities in Jerusalem and the West Bank since 1948\, has become 
 the standard work on Palestinian Christians. Tsimhoni has been a visiting 
 professor at a number of universities in the United and has lectured exten
 sively at international conferences and to the media in Israel and the Uni
 ted States on her topics of research. She is active in promoting interfait
 h dialogue in Israel and is a board member of the Israel Interfaith Associ
