DESCRIPTION:Sola Kim of Arizona State University will present "Decoding Ins
titutional Dynamics on Climate Change Adaptation in Southern South Korea"
at the May Institutional Grammar Research Initiative (IGRI) research semin
ar.Abstract:This study aims to contribute to the understanding of climate
change adaptation policies in the context of seaweed aquaculture and coast
al ecosystem management by utilizing Institutional Grammar 2.0 and the Cou
pled Infrastructure Systems framework. The research underscores the signif
icance of comprehending the intricate interactions among various CIS entit
ies and showcases the potential of IG in exploring the connections between
stakeholders engaged in the policy process. The findings suggest that a c
omprehensive understanding of CIS dynamics could enhance the effectiveness
and responsiveness of climate change adaptation policies across diverse c
ontexts. The study identifies potential gaps in integrating natural infras
tructure considerations\, which may impact the capacity of these policies
to address broader climate change adaptation goals and coastal ecosystem s
ustainability. Moreover\, this study aims to demonstrate the broader appli
cability of IG and the CIS framework in the examination of policy-making p
rocesses\, extending beyond the specific context of South Korea. The insig
hts generated may help inform the development of more sustainable and adap
tive policies across various sectors and regions\, ultimately supporting t
he resilience and well-being of communities worldwide. By illustrating the
potential of IG and the CIS framework\, the research aspires to offer val
uable contributions to the fields of institutional analysis and policy-mak
ing in the face of climate change and environmental challenges.
