DESCRIPTION:Despite decades of globalization and\nmulticulturalism\, miscon
ceptions about those deemed “culturally different”\nprevail\, often leadin
 g to conflict. Yet\, cross-cultural interactions are\nubiquitous\, making
the need for positive and effective communication more\npressing than ever
. But how do we get there? This workshop will help you develop\nskills to
foster better communication across cultural differences. It will\nprovide
you with an opportunity to reflect about the meaning of “culture\,” a\nwor
d often invoked but little understood\, and its role in shaping our\nperce
ptions and interactions. Building on anthropological notions\, real world\
nexamples\, and practical exercises\, the workshop will promote an underst
anding\nof cultural differences as a rich element of the human experience
rather than\nas barriers that divide us. These reflections will be the fou
ndation for\nconcrete practices of communication that are respectful of di
fferences but also\nproductive for finding common ground to achieve mutual
ly satisfactory goals. \n\n&nbsp\;\n\nPresenter: Dr. Carolina\nArango-Varg

FREE and open to all\, but registration is\nrequired. To register\, please
