Yan Liu is a doctoral student in sociology whose academic interests include international migration, globalization, education, aging, and health. He is particularly interested in the interplay of the recent private migration flows out of China into the Global South and the expanding role of the Chinese state around the world. His dissertation project explores the new Chinese immigration in the Eastern Caribbean. Yan received his bachelor’s degree in sociology and economics from Peking University, and his master’s degree in sociology from Tsinghua University in Beijing.
