Colleen Heflin (Center for Policy Research) & Rajeev Darolia invite you to submit proposals for a special issue of The ANNALS of the American Academy of Political and Social Science. This issue is aimed at improving our understanding of the consequences of the opioid epidemic in a variety of societal and community domains. Potential topics for the special issue include, but are not limited to, the link between the opioid epidemic and: household formation; child maltreatment & foster care; labor markets; education; housing security; food security & SNAP participation; state and local budgets; intergenerational effects; crime; or inequality. We also welcome proposals that focus on topics not listed above. Papers should not only analyze and document the consequences of the opioid epidemic in a social and community domains, but should also address the role of public policy in ways that suggest pathways to policy solutions.
This project will have two products: a conference scheduled for January 2022 and a volume of The ANNALS of the American Academy of Political and Social Science.
