Yusun Kim is a doctoral candidate whose research interests are in the areas of public financial management and social policy. She is particularly interested in intergovernmental fiscal relations, as well as how governments finance large social insurance programs. Her current works study how local governments fiscally respond when the state government reduce their share of mandated spending on Medicaid. Her job market paper examines the impact of state assistance program for more regular property assessment, and whether frequent reassessment leads to improvement in assessment outcomes.
Yusun is working with Professor Yilin Hou in CPR. Yusun received her B.A. (2011) from Korea University (Seoul, Republic of Korea) in economics, and her Master's degree in public administration from Seoul National University (2013). Before coming to Syracuse, she worked briefly at the National Assembly Budget Office in South Korea as a research assistant.
