Saied is a Ph.D. student in Public Administration and a
research assistant at the Center for Policy Research, where he works with Prof.
Sarah Hamersma. He has a broad interest in Social Policy and Inequality as well
as Health and Education Policy, particularly as they pertain to children's
development. Prior to enrolling in the Ph.D. program, Saied had engaged in
political campaigning, issue advocacy, and mentoring at-risk adolescents.
He also believes in being an active member of the communities he lives in. In
the past, this belief has motivated him to volunteer at his hometown's police
department and his local elementary school, where he tutored students in
reading and mathematics. As a resident of Syracuse, he currently serves as a
volunteer with the Syracuse University Program for Refugee Assistance as well
as the Boys and Girls Club of Syracuse.
