Joaquin holds a master's degree in economics from Universidad EAFIT (Colombia) and is working in his Ph.D. in economics at Syracuse University. He worked at the World Bank for 3 years on topics related to crime and economic development in Latin America. Joaquin has participated as a speaker in several international conferences. Some of his research has been published in the International Journal of Development. Joaquin's research is focused on socioeconomic determinants of crime, spatial analysis, demobilization, royalties, and mobility issues in the labor market.
