    Washington Summer Practicum

Overview

SUMMER 2017  Tuesday, May 29 - Thursday, July 26

Each summer, Maxwell-in-Washington brings a group of competitively selected graduate students to Washington to take part in the 6 credit Washington Summer Practicum. The DC Program hosts students who actively engage in their internship sites' activities as well as the rigorous academic components of the Practicum.  This professional involvement allows you to both learn practical career skills and begin to build the network of contacts vital to a successful career in the nation's capital. The Practicum consists of two components: a seminar and an internship option.

Students spend five days per week interning and two nights per week attending class.  Experienced practitioners instruct the seminar, experts who apply their knowledge of the field to real-life policy issues on a daily basis.

This experience is particularly valuable if you hope to land a career in government or in one of the many non-profit organizations which seek to influence global policy.

Each summer, Maxwell-in-Washington welcomes students from Syracuse as well as from the University of Pittsburgh's Graduate School of Public and International Affairs (GSPIA).
