"The Athenian Oath and Political Leadership in America"

"We will transmit this City ... greater and more beautiful than it was transmitted to us."  The Athenian Oath is etched in stone in Maxwell Hall. As Mayor of Philadelphia, Michael Nutter swore allegiance to the Oath, and had it inscribed on the back of his business card. In his Tanner Lecture, Mayor Nutter will reflect on the values of the Oath and the state of political leadership in America.
