Fellow presents at Model U.N. Conference

Phone Myint Win, a Humphrey Fellow from Myanmar, met with regional high school students during the 29th Annual Central New York Model United Nations Conference at Syracuse University in January.  He discussed “Civil Society in Myanmar:  Emerged or Discovered?”  After his talk, the students participated in a question and answer session, which helped inform the students’ efforts during the Model U.N. conference.
The high school students, some of the 800 regional participants, appreciated the opportunity to speak directly with a citizen of the country they were representing during the conference and Phone remarked on how engaged and knowledgeable the students were about Myanmar.
Prior to his Humphrey Fellowship, Phone was a program manager for Burnet Institute Myanmar where he coordinated the institute’s programs in addition to developing strategic partnerships with local organizations.
