Biography:
Simone
Young was most recently the Acting Director, CARICOM and
Caribbean Affairs, Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Government of
Trinidad and Tobago where she
oversaw foreign policies related to Caribbean countries. She will focus on
integrating global issues related to gender equity into foreign policy
formulation in Small Island Developing States (SIDS). Simone’s goal is to
enhance her policymaking and problem solving skills to tackle the issue of
women and foreign policy. She earned an M.A. in International Affairs from the
Fletcher School at Tufts University, a M.Sc. in Marine Resource and
Environmental Management and a B.Sc. in Sociology and Government from the
University of the West Indies. She is also an alumnus of Georgetown
University’s School of the Foreign Service Foreign Policy Leadership Course and
the Aspen Institute.
