Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum - Gerald R. Ford Scholar Award
The Gerald R. Ford Scholar Award in Honor of Robert M. Teeter is an annual award given to a doctoral student to support dissertation research and writing in any field related to any aspect of the United States political process and public policy during the last half of the 20th century. Of special interest is the role and analysis of public opinion in that process. The Selection Committee encourages applications from doctoral students in a wide range of fields, including Political Science, History, Journalism, Communications, Public Policy, Foreign Relations, and American Studies.
American Association of University Women (AAUW) - AAUW American Fellowships Summer/Short-Term Research Publication Grants
Summer/Short-Term Research Publication Grants provide support to scholars to prepare research manuscripts for publication and to independent researchers to prepare research for publication. Preference will be given to applicants whose work supports the vision of AAUW: to break through educational and economic barriers so that all women have a fair chance.
Institute of International Education (IIE) - Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) - Core Fulbright Scholar Program
The Core Fulbright Scholar Program offers over 500 teaching, research or combination teaching/research awards in over 125 countries. Opportunities are available for college and university faculty and administrators as well as for professionals, artists, journalists, scientists, lawyers, independent scholars and many others. In addition to several new program models designed to meet the changing needs of U.S. academics and professionals, Fulbright is offering more opportunities for flexible, multi-country grants.
Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation - Dissertation Fellowships
These fellowships are designed to contribute to the support of the doctoral candidate to enable him or her to complete the thesis in a timely manner. Questions that interest the foundation concern violence and aggression in relation to social change, intergroup conflict, war, terrorism, crime, and family relationships, among other subjects.
Volkswagen Stiftung - Postdoctoral Fellowships in the Humanities
These postdoctoral fellowships in the Humanities are jointly offered by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the Volkswagen Foundation. They aim at enabling postdoctoral researchers currently based at academic institutions in the U.S. to spend some time conducting studies at universities or research institutes in Germany. These studies can either be undertaken at a university or research institute of the candidate’s choice or at a cooperating institute (listed below). Through these fellowships, junior scholars are offered a chance to: pursue research in the Humanities in an international environment; take advantage of interdisciplinary scholarly discussion and build research networks; use local libraries, archives, and other facilities, and attend international conferences, symposia, etc.; gain experiences in a non-American university system by teaching courses, depending on the opportunities offered by the respective host institution.
University of Minnesota - Immigration History Research Center Archives (IHRCA) - IHRC Archives Grants in Aid Program
The Immigration History Research Center Archives (IHRCA) offers Grant-in-Aid Awards to support a visit in order to conduct research in our collections. Awards are available through co-sponsorship from the Immigration History Research Center and the IHRCA through the ethnic and general funds. This award is open to scholars of all levels, including independent scholars, and supports a research visit of 5 days or more.
Religious Research Association (RRA) - Constant H. Jacquet Research Awards
The Religious Research Association announces its annual competition for the Constant H. Jacquet Research Award to support research in religion. Research projects must use social scientific methods and perspectives to study aspects of religion, and all proposals must discuss how the research is applicable for religious organizations, leaders, and/or practitioners. We welcome applied, client-centered projects as well as social scientific research on any aspect of religion. Proposals from students, especially PhD candidates, and scholars who are in the early stages of their careers are particularly encouraged. Applicants are required to be members of the RRA. Full-time students may join the Association at the time of their application. All others must hold membership in the RRA for at least one full year prior to the application deadline.
Library of Congress (LOC) - John W. Kluge Center - Kluge Fellowship
The Library of Congress invites qualified scholars to conduct research in the John W. Kluge Center using the Library of Congress collections and resources. The Kluge Center especially encourages humanistic and social science research that makes use of the Library's large and varied collections. Interdisciplinary, cross-cultural, or multi-lingual research is particularly welcome.
Foundation for Community Association Research (FCAR) - Byron Hanke Fellowship
The Foundation for Community Association Research (FCAR) awards its Byron Hanke Fellowship to selected graduate students to implement research projects related to the development, management and governance of common interest communities and their community associations. Projects may focus on applied or theoretical research and must be done in conjunction with the fellow’s graduate studies. The application should clearly explain the purpose and anticipated outcomes of the project and show how it will expand or enhance existing theory, knowledge, or data collection and help to advance the Foundation’s mission.
Coordinating Council for Women in History (CCWH) - Catherine Prelinger Award
The CCWH Catherine Prelinger Award will be awarded to a scholar of excellence. This award, named for Catherine Prelinger, a former CCWH president and nontraditional scholar, is intended to enhance the work of a contemporary scholar whose academic path has not followed the traditional path of uninterrupted study, moving from completed secondary, to undergraduate, then graduate degrees, followed by a tenure-track faculty position.
