University of Virginia - Jefferson Scholars Foundation - National Fellowship
National Fellowships support outstanding scholars at top institutions across the country who are completing dissertations in American history, politics, public policy and foreign relations. The Foundation is eager to welcome the National Fellows into its community of Jefferson Scholars and Fellows, and plans to leverage the interdisciplinary vibrancy of its existing programs to provide opportunities for National Fellows to engage with other world-class scholars at the University of Virginia.
University of Oxford - Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies (OCIS) - Visiting Fellowships
The Centre has developed an international network of personal and institutional contacts to enable liaison, dialogue and exchange between the Islamic and Western worlds of learning. Protocols of academic cooperation exist between the Centre and many institutions worldwide, facilitating the exchange of scholars and researchers. The Centre's programme of Visiting Fellowships and Scholarships plays a key role in these international activities. Since its inception in 1987 the programme has brought to Oxford scholars and students from more than forty countries in Asia, Africa, the Americas and Europe.
National Institutes of Health (NIH) - NIDDK Research Education Program Grants for Curriculum Development (R25)
The NIH Research Education Program (R25) supports research education activities in the mission areas of the NIH. The over-arching goal of this NIDDK Research Education R25 program is to support educational activities that complement and/or enhance the training of a workforce to meet the nation's biomedical, behavioral and clinical research needs.
Association of American Geographers - Research Grants
The AAG provides small grants to support research and fieldwork. The selection committee will support proposals that in its judgment offer the prospect of obtaining substantial subsequent support from private foundations or federal agencies and that address questions of major import to the discipline. The committee will not approve awards for master's or doctoral dissertation research.
Association of American Geographers - Dissertation Research Grants
The American Association of Geographers (AAG) provides support for doctoral dissertation research in the form of small grants to PhD candidates of any geographic specialty. The fund supports doctoral dissertation research in geography.
John D. & Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation - Grants

Winterthur Museum, Garden, and Library - Short-Term Research Fellowships
Applicants need not apply for a specific named fellowship, but Winterthur does designate certain awards: the Faith Andrews Fellowships for the study of Shaker life and material culture; the Robert Lee Gill Fellowships for research on American decorative arts, painting, architecture, or historic preservation; and the Cheryl A. Robertson Fellowships for the study of domestic life, late 19th- and early 20th-century design and material culture.
The Society of Woman Geographers - Evelyn L. Pruitt National Fellowship for Dissertation Research
The Society of Woman Geographers (SWG) Evelyn L. Pruitt National Fellowship for Dissertation Research is made possible by a generous bequest from Ms. Evelyn L. Pruitt. Ms. Pruitt was a research geographer with the United States Navy whose work from the 1940s into the 1970s greatly advanced the study of coastal environments, the use of remote sensing in geography, and field research in international settings.
