The 2018 recipient of the Wanetik Award is Erin Hamilton ‘19. Like Matt, Erin was a member of the International Relations Learning Community in her first year here at Syracuse and is now majoring in International Relations. Like Matt, she also studied abroad. Also like Matt, Erin is an active and engaged member of our campus community, participating in UNICEF@SU, Model United Nations Team, and the campus chapter of the NAACP. She has also participated in a program tutoring Somali Bantu refugees and been employed part-time as an office assistant for the iSchool Dean’s office.

Erin is from Flint, Michigan, and she has been a passionate advocate for addressing water contamination issues there. She enjoys spending time with her family and intramural coed volleyball. She is completing a minor in Spanish Language, Literature, and Linguistics and studied abroad in Santiago, Chile, to improve her language proficiency and cultural understanding. After graduation, she hopes to go to law school and plans a career working in the public or nonprofit sector on issues of children’s rights.
