Morgan Markowitz

The 2021 recipient of the Wanetik Scholarship is Morgan Markowitz '22.  Morgan is majoring in both International Relations and Political Science, so shares Matt’s interest in those disciplines.  She also has a minor in Atrocity Studies and the Practices of Social Justice.  She is an active member of Syracuse Hillel, where she regularly attends services and is currently the administrative intern.  Like Matt, Morgan also participates in Greek life on campus: she is a member of the social sorority, Delta Phi Epsilon, as well as the professional pre-law fraternity, Phi Alpha Delta, and represents both of those chapters on Hillel's Jewish Greek Council.  Morgan also participates in the women’s health and fitness organization on campus, CHAARG, and will be leading the organization as the Ambassador for the 2021-2022 academic year.  She also played lacrosse in high school and is a fan of the Vegas Golden Nights hockey team and the New York Giants football team.  She had planned to study abroad in Central Europe last semester, but was unable to attend due to the pandemic.  Morgan was also recently inducted into the international relations honor society, Sigma Iota Rho, and plans to continue her studies after graduation.  She has been studying remotely this year due to her classes being online and is currently living at home with her family in Las Vegas, Nevada, but plans to return to campus in the fall.
