2017 Recipient of the Matthew Ross Wanetik
The 2017 recipient of the Wanetik Award
is junior Taylor Dunne ’18. Like Matt, Taylor was a member of the
International Relations Learning Community in her first year here at Syracuse
and is now majoring in International Relations with a focus on IPE and Europe.
Like Matt, she also studied abroad in Europe.
Also like Matt, Taylor is a member of a Greek campus organization – Kappa
Alpha Theta. In terms of her personality, Taylor also demonstrates the kind of joie
de vivre that Matt did.
Taylor is from El
Cajon, California, and happily gave up the routine of sunny 80 degree weather
in the San Diego area to come across the country to study here in the frozen
north. She enjoys spending time with her
family and has a younger brother and sister. She is completing a second major in Economics
and a minor in Spanish, and this semester she is serving as a research
assistant for the TNGO Initiative in the Moynihan Center. After she completes
her undergraduate degree, she hopes to join the Peace Corps and then go to grad
school and plans a career working in the nonprofit sector on issues of
education and women’s rights.
