Regional Governance Advisor for World Vision International (Africa Regions)
Josephine Oguta is the Regional Governance Advisor for World Vision International (Africa Regions) for the past 4 years.Prior to joining WVI she worked as the Head of Affiliate Development with ActionAid International leading the development of their global Federal governance structure for 5 years. Josephine is also a member of the Task force that drafted the Corporate Governance Code and Principles of Bangladesh and the chief drafts person of the Bangladesh NGO Code of Governance. In the past 12 years, she has been involved with setting up institutional governance systems and structures; Board development, Board Formation and Evaluation and Organization restructuring processes of various international and national organizations such as, Action Aid International, AMREF International, Nelson Mandela Foundation, ECOTA Fair Trade Forum, Proshika, SANASO, Marie Stopes, British Nepal Medical Trust etc. As cofounder of Boards’ Consult she has worked cumulatively in the development and training of over 100 Boards of Directors of Nonprofit Organisations and Financial Institutions in 4 continents (Africa, Europe, Asia and America). She is a holder of a post graduate degree in Law, a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science, History and Economic; a Professional Chartered Company Secretary (ICSA, UK) and a Harvard certificate in Leading and managing Nonprofit organisations. She serves as a Strategic Partner of Bangladesh Enterprise Institute, a Member of Commonwealth for British Education Trust (CfBT) and also serves on the boards of various private corporations. She is married with 3 daughters ages 18, 12 and 7.
