The Fall 2008 film series featured the following films and documentaries: My Country, My Country (a narra- tive about the contradictions of the U.S. occupation of Iraq); Caramel (a Lebanese film about the intersecting lives of five women, told through their meetings in a beauty salon in Beirut); Goal Dreams (a documentary following the Palestinian Football Association (PFA) team as they prepare for the 2006 World Cup); and Bab el Oued City (an Algerian film about a young baker’s pursuit of his desires in face of Islamist fundamentalism after the violent riots of October 1988).
