SU REGIONAL COUNCIL STRENGTHENS CRUCIAL TIES TO THE Middle East

The inaugural meeting of the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey Regional Council (MENAT) on June 17, 2012 marked another step in building Syracuse University’s relationship with countries in this region. University Provost and Vice Chancellor Eric F. Spina officiated the meeting of council members in Dubai. The university will increase cultural and intellectual exchange with countries in and around the Middle East through applicant recruitment, building relations with SU alumni currently living and working in the region, and the establishment of new internship and exchange opportunities for SU students. Council members consist of SU alumni who have achieved successes and formed strong ties with MENAT countries. As the region grows in global importance, such ties will hopefully foster peaceful international relationships.
