Lakshmi Srinivas to Explain: Cinethnography: Fieldwork on Filmwork
On Tuesday, April 3, the South Asia Center is lucky to host Lakshmi Srinivas, an Associate Professor of UMass Boston.
How can ethnography’s empathetic and grounded approach inform understandings of cinema-film whose study has been dominated by textual and film-centered study? Srinivas’ talk will draw on immersive ethnography of cinema and of movie going in the multi-ethnic and multi-lingual city of Bangalore in South India to offer some insights into the social world and lived experience of popular cinema.
This lecture will take place in 341 Eggers Hall at 12:30 pm. Please join us!
