Current Position: Executive Director, Center for Economic and Social Rights (CESR)
Organization: The Center for Economic and Social Rights (CESR) is an international non-governmental organization that promotes social justice through the fulfillment of human rights to education, health, food, housing, work and other economic, social and cultural rights essential to human dignity. CESR is one of the premier global activist organizations in the arena of economic and social rights, but also tries to fulfill a think tank role.
Research Topic: “Evaluating the mission, objectives, and effectiveness of CESR”. This research sought to refine CESR’s mission, purpose and niche within the world of civil society activism on human rights and development. In particular, it seeks to find an appropriate balance between activist and think tank related roles.
Brief Bio: Prior to working at CESR, Mr. Saiz was director of policy at the international secretariat of Amnesty International. His responsibilities included overseeing the development of Amnesty's research, campaigning and advocacy on economic, social and cultural rights.
