Alletto named chief program and services officer at Texas HHS
Michelle Alletto ’06 MPA will serve as the new
chief program and services officer for Texas Health and Human Services.
In her new position, Alletto will be
responsible for overseeing the management of Texas’s medical and social
services, which include, among others, Medicaid, CHIP, SNAP, TANF, and WIC. She
will also have oversight responsibilities with Texas’s Health and Specialty
Care System, which is made up of state-supported living centers for people with
intellectual and developmental disabilities. Health and Human Services in Texas
aims to improve the health, safety, and well-being of all Texans, and in this effort,
they work with more than seven million people monthly.
Alletto has more than a decade of public
health and management experience, most recently as a program officer with the
Milbank Memorial Fund, where she helped with a multi-state initiative for
long-term Medicaid services reform. She is also a former deputy secretary for Louisiana’s
Department of Health, where during her tenure she managed the restructuring of
aging and disability services Medicaid waivers. Alletto has also spent time
with the Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs and the U.S.
Government Accountability Office.
