Attorney Millman writes debut thriller

Jode MillmanJode Millman ’76 BA (Soc) has written a novel — her debut thriller — titled The Midnight Call. It was released on June 18 by Immortal Works.

The Midnight Call follows an attorney, Jessie Martin, after she answers a call for help from her mentor and confidante, Terrance Butterfield. Though Butterfield has admitted to killing someone, Martin agrees to help but in the process risks her career, love, life, and unborn child. The Midnight Call has been praised by a number of reviewers, including the USA Today Network and Publishers Weekly. Millman was also in the July issue of Books & Buzz, where she discussed how her experiences as a lawyer in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., have inspired her fiction.

Millman currently co-hosts and co-produces the Backstage with the Bardavon podcast, a series that invites listeners backstage for conversations with musicians and other performers who appear at the Bardavon 1869 Opera House in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and the Ulster Performing Arts Center in Kingston, N.Y. She has also taught at Detroit Mercy Law School and Marist College, and is a member of the Mystery Writers of America, International Thriller Writers, the Sisters in Crime, and the Romance Writers of America. When not writing, Millman has worked as a lawyer specializing in copyright, trademark, matrimonial, and real estate law.
