Burdick article on Brazil’s June Days Protests

Burdick, JohnAnthropology Professor John Burdick's essay "Brazil's June Days and their Aftermath:  Tectonic Shifts in Brazilian Politics?" has been published in "Mobilizing Ideas," a blog by the University of Notre Dame's Center for the Study of Social Movements.  Burdick, who observed first-hand some of the massive protests of government failure and fraud that occurred in over a hundred cities in Brazil earlier this summer, writes about the importance of the mix of classes among the protestors and how the protests "may be helping to define new ways for Brazilians to think of themselves as 'citizens'" and given them a new resolve and sense of pride in their power.
