Dutkowsky, McDowell on "Debt ceiling deadline approaching"
Professors Donald Dutkowsky and Daniel McDowell weighed in for a recent YNN story on the October 17th deadline to raise the debt ceiling. Dutkowsky said, of the possible catastrophic consequences for both the United States' and global economies, "it's harming an economy that could use all the help it could get. It's not a good statement about how our government has been operating, especially when we have real problems out there." McDowell points out that "it's only been recently, over the last few years, that members of Congress, particularly the Republican Party and the House, have decided to use the debt ceiling as a way to try and negotiate over broader issues." 10/09/13
