International Journalists visiting Maxwell
Eight emerging leaders in the field of journalism from six South Asia countries will visit Maxwell October 31 to November 6 as part of the U.S. State Department’s annual Edward R. Murrow Program for Journalists. The visitors from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will examine journalistic practices, current trends, alternative media and new technologies. The program will focus on U.S. social, economic, and political structures; U.S. policy-making process and government; and specific topics such as human rights, the rights and responsibilities of a free press in a democracy, and religious/ethnic diversity. This is the eighth year that the Maxwell School and the Newhouse School have co-hosted journalists from the Murrow Program.
