Audie Klotz, professor of political science, is the recipient of the 2020 Distinguished Scholar Award from the International Organization Section of the International Studies Association (ISA).

The Distinguished Scholar Award is presented to senior scholars whose influence, scholarly work, and mentorship are expected to significantly shape the field of international studies in the years to come. The ISA is an interdisciplinary association focused on the study of international, transnational, and global affairs. Its International Organization section, which presented Klotz with this award, focuses on studying international integration, transnational interactions, and both formal and informal international institutions. 

Klotz, an expert in the study of international relations, qualitative methods, global and comparative immigration policy, and global governance and transnational activism, has received multiple awards from the ISA. Her most recent book, Migration and National Identity in South Africa, 1860-2010, received an honorable mention for the Francesco Guicciardini book prize from the ISA’s Historical International Relations section. Klotz has also received the 2018 Distinguished Scholar award from the ISA’s Ethnicity, Nationality, and Migration section as well as the ISA’s 2014 J. Ann Tickner Award for innovative scholarship and exceptional mentoring.
