Mary Lovely was interviewed on China Central Television regarding President Trump's tariff's on Chinese imports. Following is a written excerpt that has been translated:

Though the Trump administration said that punitive trade measures will target Chinese products that US officials believe benefit from various forced technology transfer, PIIE visiting scholar and Syracuse University economist Mary Lovely told Caixin reporters that, the more important goal for the US is to target China’s national industrial plan “Made in China 2025.” She said: “This is a warning. It means that when China utilizes American technology and innovation to make achievements, the US will not sit aside and simply let it happen.”
