MPA student Antonio Michel piece on DACA published in Foreign Affairs

Antonio Michel"The dream goes on, but the alarm is still set," written by MPA student Antonio Michel, was published (in Spanish) in Foreign Affairs Latin America. Michel describes the present of DACA and the dreamers under the current administration and the potential outcomes of the extended decision that needs to be made by the Legislative branch. The beneficiaries, mainly students and young immigrants, could fall into a legal limbo, where their documents and permits expire or their application for a renewal is denied. The urgency of resolving this situation is evident and government authorities, not only from the U.S. but from the countries of origin, must collaborate to find a solution. Michel closes the article with a quote from John Lennon: "you can say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one." He was right, says Michel. "They are not the only dreamers, and the more people we can add to that group, the longer the dream will last. Perhaps the alarm will go off soon, but at least we will not wake up alone." 05/01/18
