Noted public health and wellness expert to deliver Lourie Lecture
Dr. Rajiv Kumar, founder and CEO of ShapeUp, a global wellness company that uses a social approach combined with technology to engage employees in corporate wellness programs, will present the 25th annual Herbert Lourie Memorial Lecture on Health Policy. The lecture,"Health Promotion 2.0: The Next Generation of Wellness Programs in America," will be held on Friday, October 4, at 2:00 p.m. in the Regency Room, Sheraton Syracuse University Hotel, 801 University Avenue. A reception will immediately follow.
Dr. Kumar is one of 10 Americans who received the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's Community Health Leader Award in 2009 for his work in public health. He has adapted his social behavior change model to companies worldwide including Cleveland Clinic, Boeing, HP, Aetna, and Bank of America, covering over 2,000,000 people in 100 countries. He has co-authored numerous health outcome studies published in peer review journals including Obesity, The American Journal of Public Health, and Preventive Medicine.

Herbert Lourie, MD, was an active neurosurgeon, clinical professor of neurosurgery at SUNY Upstate Medical University, and community leader at the time of his death in 1987. 10/01/13
