Shana Gadarian receives grant
Shana
Gadarian, assistant professor of political science, has received
funding from the Norway Research Council for a long-term study of the
effect of terrorism on
social capital in several countries. Collaborating with a group of
researchers from Norway, Finland, and Spain, she will act as the U.S.
arm of the project for 2015-2017, working on survey design and
implementation.
The
project will examine the relationship between a major disruption such
as a terrorist attack and the resilience of social networks in the
aftermath. Specifically,
the group will study changes in Norway resulting from the terrorist
attack there in July 2011 in which over 80 people were killed and will
compare the effects of that event with those in other countries that
have experienced terrorist attacks. 07/01/14
