Concurrent Degrees

Any student has the opportunity to pursue a second degree at Maxwell or SU

It is possible to earn the MPA or MAIR degree at the same time one earns a second graduate degree at Maxwell, elsewhere at Syracuse University, or at the neighboring SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry.

Concurrent degrees may be coordinated to create a partial sharing of credits - meaning students can obtain both degrees with fewer credits than would be required if they obtained the degrees separately. Recent examples include students who paired a PAIA degree with graduate programs in geography, social work, management, and environmental policy.  Another important example is the concurrent MPA/economics degree, through which students supplement the MPA skill sets with a broader capacity in economic analysis.

In all cases, applicants must apply separately to be admitted by each department/school.
