Biography

Uğur Altundal received his M.A. ('15) in Government at Georgetown University. He has a B.S. ('11) in Political Science and Public Administration, and a B.A. ('13) in Philosophy as a double major from Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey. At Maxwell, Uğur pursues a Ph.D. in Political Science majoring in Political Theory and Comparative Politics. His main interests include Contemporary Political Philosophy, Democracy, Citizenship, Immigration and Open Borders. His dissertation prospectus is on the right to freedom of movement, immigration, and sovereignty. He examines the normative justifications of political borders and border controls, the right to travel, and whether liberal democratic states are justified excluding travelers.
