Declaring a Major or Minor in Political Science

•  Any student can declare a minor.  Students who have completed one PSC course (with a C- or better) can declare a major in Political Science. 
•  Please see Candy Brooks in 100 Eggers Hall to fill out the necessary paperwork to declare a major or minor. No appointment is necessary. 

Major Requirements

•  Complete a total of 10 courses (30 credits) in Political Science. Please note that PSC courses with a grade of D or lower may not be applied to the major. 
•  PSC 121: American National Government & Politics 
•  PSC 202: Introduction to Political Analysis
•  An additional lower-level course
•  Six upper division courses 
•  An additional course at any level
•  Complete one course designated as having foreign or international content.
•  Choose a cluster and take at least three upper-division courses in it. Clusters include:

American Politics 
Comparative Politics 
Democracy & Political Mobilization 
Global Governance & Foreign Policy 
International War & Peace
Law & Politics
Political Economy
Political Theory 
Public Policy

Minor Requirements

•  Complete a total of 6 courses (18 credits) in Political Science. 
•  One lower-division course
•  Four upper-division courses  
•  An additional course at any level 
•  One course must be designated as having foreign or international content.
•  Five of the six courses must be taken at Syracuse University; only one can be transferred in.
