Biography
Cassie Dutton earned her
BA in Anthropology from the College of Wooster in 2012. She moved to Thailand
immediately after finishing her degree to live and teach English to middle
school students. Cassie returned to the United States in 2013, knowing that she
wanted to pursue graduate education and she earned her MA in Sociology from
Syracuse University in 2016. Knowing that her career goals involve working
outside of academia, Cassie is diligent in considering the practical
applications of her research projects and dissertation work. In this way, her
dissertation research focuses on the intersections of immigration, new
destinations, and social policy. As such, she investigates the ways in
which state and local level policies in new immigrant destination locations
have affected immigrant economic capital accumulation post-2008 financial
crisis.
