Become a Sponsor for the Maxwell School Celebration in Washington, D.C.
Show your commitment to the next 100 years of the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs by becoming a sponsor of the Maxwell School centennial celebration at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C., that will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024.
Your centennial celebration sponsorship will enable us to provide competitive awards to students like Shaneya Nyasia Simmelkjaer, a Ph.D. student in sociology, and Jenna Poma, a third-year undergraduate student double majoring in policy studies and citizenship and civic engagement. Both were among a cohort of six students who received the inaugural Maxwell School Centennial Scholar Awards* for their demonstrated commitments to engaged citizenship.
Starting with the gold level, centennial celebration sponsors can join us in recognizing additional Maxwell School students for this award, who will be selected in fall 2024.
The final date to sponsor the Maxwell School centennial celebration in Washington, D.C., is April 19, 2024, or before if all tickets have been committed.

The Maxwell Centennial Scholar Awards program is a donor-supported effort to recognize Maxwell students, at all levels, for their academic excellence and demonstrated engaged citizenship.
Your support of the Maxwell centennial celebration via sponsorship at the gold level and above will allow us to recognize additional worthy students in the fall of 2024. The number of students recognized will vary based on your selected sponsorship level, with the opportunity to recognize up to five deserving students as a centennial-level sponsor. There will be an opportunity to connect participating sponsors with selected students at the on-campus centennial celebration to be held in Syracuse during the Fall 2024 semester.
Thanks to your generosity we can continue to offer our top students recognition for their outstanding academic achievements and their work outside the classroom that reflects the spirit of a Maxwell education.
The process to select the second group of Maxwell Centennial Scholars will begin at the start of the Fall 2024 semester.
All Maxwell students will receive an invitation to apply and will be asked to supply:
- A statement on how their academic and career goals contribute to Maxwell’s legacy of engaged citizenship and public service
- A current CV/resume
- An unofficial transcript
A selection committee including faculty and staff from across the school will be convened to review all materials.
The candidates will be evaluated on three categories:
- Overall academic excellence
- Quality and fit of their essay
- Evidence of engaged citizenship and public service
Students selected for this honor will receive a financial award to support their studies and recognition for being named a Maxwell School Centennial Scholar.
