Research at ASPI pertains to the socio-technical, political-economic, legal-ethical and artistic-aesthetic aspects of AI, autonomous systems and other emerging technologies. Currently, we are focused on the following broad areas.

• Algorithmic Governance: AI policy, technology policy, community engagement, data and democracy, equity and development, peace and conflict, and media and information
• Future Manufacturing: Industrial computing, process design, robotic manufacturing, future of work, and workforce development
• Smart Infrastructures: Smart cities/homes, autonomous vehicles, sustainable design, science infrastructure and the Internet of Things
• Humanistic AI: Artistic, aesthetic, and creative applications of AI in the visual and performing arts, humanities, and media
